Sartopure® GF Plus Mini Cartridges

Sartopure® GF Plus Mini Cartridges are compact adsorptive depth filter elements for small-volume clarification and prefiltration in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical process streams. They use the same two-layer glass-fiber fleece concept as larger Sartopure® GF Plus formats, supporting scale-down studies, process development and limited-volume filtration before downstream membrane filtration or purification steps.

Main Formats:

  • Retention Ratings: Available in 0.65 µm and 1.2 µm to support selection according to feed stream composition, particulate load and downstream filtration requirements.
  • Mini Cartridge Format: Compact cartridge design for small-volume applications, laboratory-scale filtration and process development work.
  • Scale-Down Format: Suitable for evaluating Sartopure® GF Plus depth filtration behavior before transfer to larger cartridge or capsule formats.
  • Housing-Based Use: Designed for use in suitable filter housings, supporting controlled filtration studies and small process setups.

Applications:

  • Process Development: Supports early-stage evaluation of clarification and prefiltration steps using Sartopure® GF Plus filter material.
  • Scale-Down Studies: Enables small-scale testing to support filter selection and process transfer to larger Sartopure® GF Plus formats.
  • Cell Culture Harvest Clarification: Helps reduce particles, colloids, lipids and protein aggregates in harvested cell culture fluids.
  • Fermentation Broth Prefiltration: Applicable before downstream membrane filtration, chromatography or ultrafiltration steps.
  • Media and Serum Filtration: Suitable for serum-free or serum-containing media and process fluids with lipid or colloidal contaminants.
  • Small-Volume Pharmaceutical Filtration: Can be used for limited-volume clarification of viscous pharmaceutical solutions, including ophthalmic and large-volume parenteral process streams at appropriate scale.

Materials Used:

  • Filter Medium: Two-layer glass-fiber fleece for combined adsorptive and mechanical retention.
  • Support Material: Polypropylene support fleece.
  • Core and End Caps: Polypropylene.
  • O-Rings: Silicone as standard, with EPDM or fluoroelastomer options depending on configuration and process requirements.
  • Regulatory-Related Product Information: Non-pyrogenic according to USP Bacterial Endotoxins test and passes USP Plastic Class VI test, according to product documentation.

Advantages:

  • Compact Cartridge Design: Supports small-volume filtration where reduced sample volume and easy handling are important.
  • Adsorptive Depth Filtration: The two-layer glass-fiber matrix helps reduce colloids, lipids, protein aggregates and particles.
  • Defined Retention Options: 0.65 µm and 1.2 µm ratings allow adaptation to different clarification and prefiltration needs.
  • Scale-Up Support: Mini Cartridges can support process development and transfer to larger Sartopure® GF Plus cartridge or capsule formats.
  • Downstream Process Protection: Helps reduce particulate and colloidal burden before membrane filters, chromatography columns and ultrafiltration systems.
  • Process-Relevant Materials: Polypropylene support and structural components support use in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical filtration workflows.
  • Sterilization Options: Mini Cartridges can be autoclaved or steam sterilized in-line within specified operating limits.

Together, these features make Sartopure® GF Plus Mini Cartridges a suitable format for small-scale clarification, prefiltration and scale-down studies in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical process development.
