For demanding processes with high gassing rates such as microbial processes or intensified cell culture processes an exhaust cooler can reduce the amount of moisture carried in the exhaust flow and mitigate the risk of filter clogging. While passing the exhaust cooler cassette, the air is cooled down and precipitating liquid collected. This also allows for the return of condensate to the Flexsafe STR® bag and thus helps to minimize water loss during the process run. As the exhaust system is of specific relevance in microbial applications a Single-Use Exhaust Cooler is required for successful processes in Flexsafe STR® Microbial.
The Single-Use Exhaust Cooler comes ready-to-use with sterile connectors of choice for easy installation and process set-up. In addition to the exhaust inlet and outlet lines, the condensate return line is installed using sterile connectors. In case you do not wish to feed the condensate back into the process or your Flexsafe STR® design is not equipped with a condensate return line, you can also collect condensate in a separate container for later disposal.
Please note that your Biostat STR® system must be equipped with an exhaust cooler holder, pump and chiller to successfully operate the Single-use Exhaust Cooler. If you are unsure whether your Biostat STR® system or your Flexsafe STR® design meets all requirements for installation of a Single-Use Exhaust Cooler or you want to retrofit your existing system, get in touch with your Sartorius representative.
